Our vision is to build a thriving creative community where DJs are recognized as cultural leaders, mentors, and innovators. We see the DMV as a hub of musical unity and positive energy. A place where artistry bridges generations, inspires collaboration, and empowers individuals to make a lasting impact through music. By championing diversity, inclusion, and community engagement, we aim to set the standard for how music can transform lives, connect hearts, and move the world one beat at a time.
The International DJ Café DMV Chapter is a movement where community, creativity, and culture unite. We’re dedicated to uplifting the DMV by creating safe, inspiring spaces where DJs and music lovers connect, collaborate, and grow. Through music, mentorship, and positive engagement, we aim to spark creativity, strengthen unity, and empower our community, keeping the culture alive and the energy flowing, one beat at a time.
It started with a single night out. In December 2021, our founder drove up to Smyrna, Delaware for a DJ MeetUp hosted by DJ Real, expecting nothing more than a few hours behind the decks among strangers. What he found instead was a room full of people who spoke his language. He came back in January. Then February. By the third visit, the strangers had become familiar faces, and an invitation arrived to join The Allyantz DJs crew, opening the door to regular meetups with the IDJC Delaware Chapter.
The energy of those gatherings sparked an idea: the DMV needed a chapter of its own. Securing a venue proved difficult at first, but a meeting with DJ Hines, then performing at 5 S Lounge (formerly 5 Sisters) in Laurel, Maryland, changed everything. Together, the vision moved forward.
With guidance from DJ Sticks, head of the IDJC Delaware Chapter, the next step was reaching out to IDJC founder DJ JayRock. He gave his blessing, and on August 21, 2022, the International DJ Cafe DMV Chapter held its very first event.
The International DJ Café is a collaborative DJ collective dedicated to creating, curating, and sharing diverse musical experiences that bring people together. As a group, we blend sounds across genres, eras, and cultures to craft engaging mixes, live sets, and events that reflect both individuality and unity.
We work collectively to elevate each member’s craft while delivering high-quality performances and content that connect with a wide range of audiences. Through collaboration and shared creativity, we develop projects that highlight our unique styles while maintaining a cohesive group identity rooted in musical exploration and connection.
Beyond the music, we operate with structure and purpose—developing systems that support communication, professionalism, and long-term growth. Through shared responsibility and mutual respect, we organize our efforts, support one another’s development, and maintain an inclusive environment, allowing us to function as a unified collective committed to consistency, creativity, and community impact.
